We sadly had to take down our Hawaii aquarium within the greenhouse, because the hermit crabs sadly passed during a winter storm. The winter storm cut out the electricity in our house, which caused the heater to shut off. Temperatures that were once simmering at 85ºF dropped down to 60ºF in a matter of minutes. This lead to the death of the hermit crabs because they are very sensitive to the temperature (just imagine a very mass cooling of the ocean)
On a positive note, we hoping to replace this space with a variety of plants native to the Pacific islands, including wild gingers and indian beach mulberry.
