Our drone, the DJI HappyCraft 3, flew over Spooner Lake, NV December 2024 for our new film, Mysterious White Lake (sequel to Big Blue Lake of Dec '23)
"The film will cover various wildlife that is often overlooked by people who visit Tahoe, such as the parasitic mistletoe Arceuthobium sp.; various mountainous Ceonanthus sp., and also the taxonomy of the Sierra's conifers, including the pines (Pinus) and the local subspecies of the white fir (Abies concolor var. lowiana). A lot of people flock to Tahoe each year to engage in snow sports, without regarding various forms of micro life that occur only in these high elevations. My intent for this film is NOT to discourage from engaging in these sports; it is to educate people about these life forms, and encourage them to notice them. These plants/nature forms are quite frankly new to me as well, because I used to spend much of my time in Tahoe sledding." -Rob, film maker and CCAG founder.
The drone flew over Spooner Lake, as it did last year. Though last years film very superficially skimmed the lake's biodiversity, this one is expected to be more in depth,
Watch the following footage of the drone flying while you wait for the film to be released hopefully in the next week or two! We will make a blog post about it, but be sure you're tuning in to our video site for more updates!
